What is Hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing promotes specific skills which offer an approach to labour and birth that allows you to listen and work with your body and mind holistically. These techniques include: a thorough knowledge of the childbirth processes, a positive mindset, personal affirmations, general and specific breathwork, relaxation for pregnancy, labour and birth, visualisation practices and ways to use these tools during childbearing and beyond.

What can Hypnobirthing do for me?

Hypnobirthing can enable you to become calm and positive and in turn reduce fear of childbirth through deep relaxation. Research indicates it can reduce pain, shorten labour and relieve anxiety. There is evidence that it has no adverse outcomes.

A positive approach to labour and birth will promote a smoother, quicker and more comfortable childbirth experience. If you are calm and confident you will have increased levels of oxytocin and endorphins (natural pain relief chemicals) and be empowered to make choices even when circumstances change during labour or birth.

With practice, you can strengthen your mindset to let go of negative thinking and change your brain pathways to more positive and confident ones even though birth is the unknown for you. Each negative thought can be replaced by a positive one to build your mental resilience and take control of your mind and emotions.
