Hypnobirthing is taught over a 6-8 week period, usually once per week for 1-1.5 hours. However, throughout the course, parents are provided with exercises and activities that can be completed in their own time. Some people find it easier to reach a deep level of relaxation than others, but regular relaxation practices are essential to conditioning the mind and body for a calm birth.
You can begin Hypnobirthing at any time (even preconception), but most parents begin the program between 20-35 weeks. The earlier you begin, the more time you will have to practice for your birthing day.
Hypnobirthing has been chosen by hundreds of thousands of expecting parents throughout the world to prepare for the birth of their child. Educators report consistently receiving positive birth stories from their new parents, thank you emails for helping parents prepare for their birthing day, and testimonials about how grateful they were to be prepped with the tools and techniques to use throughout pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
Yes, birth is unpredictable, and every birth takes its own unique path. While not every person who takes a Hypnobirthing class experiences a physiological birth, parents who have taken this course have reported fewer interventions and greater satisfaction.
We must dispel the myth that a birth using hypnobirthing tools must be a pain-free, unmedicated birth. As educators, we never promise a pain-free birth, but we will promise to provide you with support, knowledge, and tools for achieving your birth goals, which will be unique to each parent. This program is designed to give parents the best chance at having a physiological, natural birth, while also preparing parents to navigate whatever path their birthing day takes.
So, as many mums who have used the techniques/tools can attest, yes, it works!
The Hypnobirthing curriculum is designed with the birthing person and their partner/support person in mind because having someone you trust by your side for support and advocacy can greatly contribute to creating a sense of safety and relaxation. While it is by no means required, we do encourage all clients to have someone to join them for the classes and support them during labour and birth. This does not have to be a romantic partner. It can be a parent, doula, or even a friend.
Class fees are set based on the content you have requested. The course fees include all sessions and the course materials.

No! A common misconception is that hypnobirthing involves hypnosis. The ‘Hypno’ part simply refers to the relaxation techniques that we teach to help you birth in a state of calm. There is nothing hippy about hypnobirthing, it is a full antenatal preparation course which is backed by science and teaches you everything you will need physically and mentally to prepare for birth.
When you attend a Hypnobirthing class, you will receive:
Positive, quality prenatal education from an educator with professional experience.
The Rainbow Relaxation and various mP3 recordings
Parent workbook/handouts
Support and understanding as you work through the exercises and practice the tools with your birth companion and baby
Guidance from me on your hypnobirthing journey
Some parents choose to take the prenatal courses offered at their birthing place, in addition to Hypnobirthing. This is your choice.
While hospital classes can vary most parents report that they focus more on the medical aspects and what to expect from active management of labour and birth.
We do, however, encourage you to take a tour of the hospital or birth centre you plan on birthing at.
Remember to check that your baby is happy and healthy before you begin to practice massage. Check any oil is suitable or try a patch test a day or so before.
Always ask your baby’s permission before you begin the session and keep checking in with your baby during your practice. Look out for your baby’s cues throughout the massage and listen to what he/she is saying. Your baby loves to spend time with you and massage provides the perfect way to communicate love, security and connection. Enjoy!
Babies can receive gentle touch and stroking from the moment they are born. Newborn babies are reassured by skin contact and it helps to establish bonds between parent and baby. Many babies and women are traditionally massaged as part of the neonatal period in many cultures around the world. Once your baby is around 8 weeks he/she can start to receive a slightly longer massage providing there are no underlying medical issues and your baby is happy and healthy. A great time to join a baby massage class is around 8 weeks, once your baby has had a postnatal check with your medical professional. If your baby suffers from colic and is under 8 weeks, tummy massage over clothes can be very useful to help relieve wind.
Newborn skin is delicate. Coconut oil is a gentle oil to use, or you can consider using an organic cold-pressed carrier oil which is easily absorbed into the skin and is packed full of nutrients for baby’s skin. Wipe any excess from fingers, hands, toes and feet so there is little likelihood of ingestion. Current guidance advises the avoidance of olive oil on the skin for baby massage. Aromatherapy blends should not be used on newborn skin and only with older babies occasionally and with the advice of an aromatherapist.
When your baby is in “quiet alert” state, which is usually after a feed and a sleep. Leave 45 minutes after a feed before you massage if possible. Look for your baby’s relaxed cues and signs to make sure he/she is in the mood for a massage and always ask baby’s permission before you begin.
For as long as your baby is relaxed. Keep checking in with your baby throughout the massage to make sure he/she is still happy to continue. You know your baby better than anyone so stop when you feel he/she has had enough. Massage is a great time to learn about your baby’s cues and encourage positive interactive, play and communication. It is better to massage for one minute with a happy baby than carry on when baby has had enough. Remember to always massage both sides of the body each time to ensure a balanced outcome.
Don’t worry, its just your baby communicating with you. He/she may prefer to change position, have a nap, feed or enjoy a cuddle. Always take the lead from your baby in massage and be responsive to his/her needs. Its through respect for his/her communication that he/she learns that the world is a place that is gentle and supportive. You can always try later. Little and often is always best with babies and with baby massage.
In a safe place free from any hazards. On the floor is a great place to massage but be mindful of your back. Keep lights low and the room warm if you are removing clothes. Turn off your phone and try to give your baby your undivided attention or if you have older children they can come and watch and join in.
In short, whenever he/she would like a massage. Skin contact and massage is crucially important for babies so any massage is likely to be beneficial. Try and work a little massage time into every day. Always try and look for the best time to massage your baby. Often doing massage after a bath can lead to a shorter session as baby maybe be tired, hungry or overstimulated already.
You will need to be flexible and take the lead from him/her. The need for touch and massage does not diminish just because baby becomes more physically independent. Infants and children enjoy positive touch, massage and interactive at all ages. You may just need to incorporate songs, music, movement and toys.
Each session is tailored to your needs. Whether you have questions about labour options, birth planning, emotional wellbeing, or postnatal recovery, we will explore your concerns in a calm, supportive space. You will leave with clarity, confidence, and practical tools.
This is an educational and supportive consultation. I provide evidence-based information and emotional support, but I do not provide clinical assessments or diagnosis.
Partners are very welcome and encouraged to attend consultations as pregnancy and parenting are shared journeys.
Sessions can be held online (via Zoom) or in-person depending on your location and preference. Most consultations last 45-60 minutes, giving you plenty of time to explore your questions without feeling rushed. You can always book another session if you wish.
We can talk through different birth settings (hospital, home birth, midwife-led units), your local maternity services, and what’s right for your preferences and needs.
We will discuss your preferences for labour and birth, help you understand your options, and create a flexible birth plan that feels right for you.
We can explore gentle, safe movements and daily habits that support optimal fetal positioning, giving your baby the best chance of settling into a head-down position.
Absolutely. Processing a previous experience is so important. You will be listened to without judgment, and we can discuss ways to feel more in control this time.
All consultations can include emotional check-ins, previous pregnancy and birth debriefing, and overall wellbeing. We can explore what’s normal, what’s not, and strategies for nurturing your emotional wellbeing as you transition into motherhood.
I welcome partners questions about their role, comfort measures they can offer, what to expect at different stages, and how they can be an active, confident birth partner. Their concerns are valid and voicing those during a consultation is positive.
